The King’s Greatest Week

Sunday, the King strolled towards the town

The crowd rolled with praise resound

Though the King wore no crown

The crowd worshipped with glory abound

On Monday, the King entered into the temple

Which had changed to an exchange

He drove out those who treated the space as simple

So that prayer once again may be arranged

On Tuesday, the King delivered the Olivet

Which foretold of Jerusalem’s destruction

Yet the King with his people not beset

For He will return was His instruction

On Wednesday, the King was betrayed

Satan filled the son of perdition

He sold Jesus out for a payday

But this did not escape Jesus’s volition

On Thursday, the King instituted Communion

Which nourishes the spiritual

Because it speaks to the Christian’s union

With Christ who is the venerable.

On Friday, the King walked the path to Golgotha

There on a cross He was crucified

Our sin was then laid on Jehovah

And the wrath of God was satisfied

On Saturday, the King laid silently entombed

Was all lost? Will all be made new?

On this Sabbath day, all was gloom

But this was only a pass-through

On Sunday, the morning started with a quake

The angel rolled the stone away

So that many a witness make

Of the Lord who rose the third day

His resurrection conquers death

And brings justification

It gives new life and breath

And brings salvation to nations

So, worship the reigning King who freed

Those in bondage to sin, its deeds

And all who have been brought by His decree

Ought to proclaim that He is risen, indeed
